I purchased this to use with my iTouch. It works perfectly, providing both power and a pass through connection with a single cable.

This is a great way to enjoy your music through your car's audio jack for better quality sound, while still using your car's power source rather than your mp3 battery. However, realize that this product does not include the audio cable -- you have to purchase the audio cable separately. Be sure to add both the Auto Kit and an audio cable to your cart, and you'll be good to go!

Unfortunately this does not work with the iPhone 3G. An earlier review states that it does but perhaps a firmware update has changed this. I have tried this charger with both my wife's and my own charger and it puts a message on the screen that the charger is not compatible with the phone. The audio out works fine but it will ask if you want to put the phone into airplane mode. I would not recommend this for use with an IPhone 3G.

I got this to power my I Pod in the car while I am stuck in traffic and whatnot and do some learning. It is a better solution than the transmitter which was getting serious interference. I used it with the aux. jack. Yes it's tow items, but the solution is better for me.
Great solution for Ipod January 9, 2009

This car charger also carries audio to the lighter adapter so only one cable needs to connect to the Ipod, much better the one cable to the bottom and another to the top of the Ipod. It has a volume control on it since audio from the data connector is fixed and the Ipod has no control of the level. I've tried a few of these adapters and found this one to have the lowest noise and interferance, some of the others had hum from the car. Great for stereos that have audio input and even adapters like a tape adapter. Ipod goes off with the car stereo if your Cig. lighter goes off with the key, but you will have to hit play for it to play again after you start the car again. This product comes in black and white, I currently have three of these and have used them for years with no issues.
